The twelth nature reserve I was asked by Cumbria Wildlife Trust to create a virtual tour for, although small has rich biodiversity. It features two very different habitats sat side by side, that can be clearly seen from the aerial overview. There is an area of mature woodland that is carpeted with bluebells in Spring, and an area of grassland that also features a small tarn. It was one I had visited a number of times prior to producing this tour, and meant I was already very aware of a number of the rarer species that made Barkbooth Lot their home.
These virtual tours are an excellent way of exploring and interacting with a reserve. They can prepare you for visiting a site in person or replace the experience if it is not possible for you to visit. You can choose what order you wish to explore the points of interest. I get tremendous enjoyment from putting these tours together.
