This is one of many virtual tours of Cumbria Wildlife Trust nature reserves on which I have collaborated. An excellent way of exploring and interacting with a reserve. This can prepare you for visiting in person or replace the experience if it is not possible for you to visit. You can choose what order you wish to explore the points of interest. I get tremendous enjoyment from putting these tours together.
I had visited the Brown Robin site a number of times before being asked by Cumbria Wildlife Trust to create this particular virtual aerial tour of their nature reserve. It is an interesting and relatively small reserve that benefits from a range of different habitats and a circular walk. It is probably most notable for its wax cap mushrooms, of which I saw plenty on my November visit, and for its Hawfinches, which I am yet to see! I deliberately visited again in May to capture the wild garlic, cowslips and bluebells.
It is, sadly, a reserve which has been hit hard by ash dieback, which can be clearly seen when zooming in on the aerial overview, despite this being taken in November to capture the autumn colours.
