Virtual tours are an excellent way of exploring and interacting with the landscapes owned by the Friends of the Lake District. This can prepare you for visiting in person or replace the experience if it is not possible for you to visit. You can choose what order you wish to explore the points of interest. I get tremendous enjoyment from putting these tours together.
High Borrowdale was the first aerial virtual tour I created for FLD. I remember that the first time I visited was 19th July 2022 – the hottest day ever recorded in the UK, and I visited twice more to get all the 360s and photos I needed. There were lots of decisions to be made regarding what to include and where to put it, and how it should all be labelled and formatted. There is a lot to read and watch to learn all about the restoration of the site, the re-establishment of its wildflower meadows and its history.
