I was stunned when I first visited Hows Wood. It was so still and quiet, and looked and felt like a very ancient place with so much of every surface carpeted in green moss. After creating the tour I brought my wife and granddaughter to visit it, following on from a trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. A grand day out.
Virtual tours are an excellent way of exploring and interacting with the landscapes owned by the Friends of the Lake District. This can prepare you for visiting in person or replace the experience if it is not possible for you to visit. You can choose what order you wish to explore the points of interest. I get tremendous enjoyment from putting these tours together.
