A lovely wood, that is maturing nicely, having originally come into the Friends of the Lake District’s possession in 1993, so 30 years at the time of creating this tour . It is very quiet, peaceful and well away from residential areas. I think I have seen more deer than people during my visits! The wood joins directly onto other woods owned by Cumbria Wildlife Trust so from the aerial view it is difficult to see which is which, so I have added a red boundary line to give an idea of roughly the extent of Mike’s Wood.
Virtual tours are an excellent way of exploring and interacting with the landscapes owned by the Friends of the Lake District. This can prepare you for visiting in person or replace the experience if it is not possible for you to visit. You can choose what order you wish to explore the points of interest. I get tremendous enjoyment from putting these tours together.
